Maryland junior Maurice Edu‘s first two goals of the 2006 season earned him Soccer America Men’s Player of the Week honors.

The goals could not have come at a more important time as they were the only goals in the No. 3 Terrapins’ 1-0 victories over Loyola (Md.) and Duke.

The midfielder from Fontana, Calif., scored both goals on headers — knocking home a ball Drew Yates redirected in the center of the box in the 61st minute against Loyola and taking a ball from Graham Zusi in the 14th minute of the Duke game.

Zusi was the previous week’s recipient of Soccer America Men’s Player of the Week honors.
