Arsenal’s problems have part due to the absence of French star Thierry Henry.

The Gunners had only managed seven goals in this year’s UEFA Champions League before Wednesday’s game against PSV, and they only managed to score thanks to an own goal by PSV defender Alex in a 1-1 tie that sent the Dutch through to the quarterfinals.

Henry, who didn’t play in recent defeats to Chelsea (English League Cup final) and Blackburn (FA Cup fifth-round replay), came on as a second-half substitute after recovering from the foot and hamstring problems that have dogged him all season, but he now faces another spell on the sidelines after suffering stomach and groin injuries in game at the Emirates Stadium.

“Thierry has torn his groin and a stomach muscle and he will be scanned tomorrow,” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. “It’s sad for him. It has been a difficult season for Thierry.”
