Of the 10 defending Region I champions from last year, seven returned to the semifinals, led by a trio of PDA teams. The U-18 Wildcats were two wins away from a fourth straight girls regional title. The U-17 Fury was seeking a third straight girls crown, and the U-16 Power was in position for a second straight title. The only 2005 champs who returned to the 2006 regionals and failed to reach the semifinals were the Potomac Fusion (U-13 boys), FC Delco Black (U-17 boys) and Beadling (U-15 girls), all of whom lost Sunday.
