Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Roeber quit after just seven games to become the second Dortmund and eighth Bundesliga coaching casualty of the 2006-07 season.

Roeber, a former NASL player with Calgary, departed after a run of six defeats in seven matches left mighty Dortmund just above the relegation zone. He took over from Dutchman Bert van Marwijk in December, and his contract ran only to the end of this season. Felix Magath and Thomas Doll are rumored to be in the running to replace Roeber.

What the Germans are calling the Trainer-Karussell began in late August when Peter Neururer stepped down as Hannover 96 coach after three games, and Dieter Hecking left Alemannia Aachen to take Neururer’s place.

On Jan. 31, the date of the third game after the winter break, three teams changed coaches. Magath was fired by champion Bayern Munich and Doll dumped by struggling Hamburg, while Jupp Heynckes quit at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
