The draw for the second UEFA Women's Cup, the European women's club championship, included teams from 35 nations. German power FFC Frankfurt, which was led to the first Women's Cup title by Carolina Courage forward Birgit Prinz and Washington Freedom midfielder Steffi Jones, was paired in the third of eight four-team groups with Irish champion Shamrock Rovers and the top clubs from Yugoslavia (Masinac Classic) and Croatia (Osijek). Frankfurt beat Sweden's Umea, 2-0, in the final in late May. The championship matchup this season, like the semifinals and quarterfinals, will be a two-match, home-and-away series.
