Mia Hamm returns to the U.S. women's national team roster for the first time since the abandoned U.S. Women's Cup last September, one of 23 players called into camp by Coach April Heinrichs in advance of the July 21 friendly against Norway in Blaine, Minn. Goalkeeper Briana Scurry, one of the heroes of the Americans' 1999 Women's World Cup triumph, also is on the camp roster, her first time with the U.S. women since the 2000 Olympics. Heinrichs will select 18 players from the group for the match against Norway, which has beaten the Americans in four successive meetings starting with the Olympic final in Sydney. Others selected include U.S. under-19 stars Jill Oakes and Heather O'Reilly. Oakes, a defender and defensive midfielder who was chosen MVP of CONCACAF's qualifying tournament for next month's U-19 world championship, will be a freshman at UCLA in the fall. O'Reilly, a forward, just completed her junior year of high school. Boston declined to release midfielder Kristine Lilly for the game so she could play in the Breakers' WUSA game against Atlanta. Norway, which will play Canada in Toronto on July 17, will feature WUSA players Hege Riise and Unni Lehn of Carolina and Anita Rapp and Linda Ormen of New York. The U.S. camp roster: Goalkeepers: LaKeysia Beene (San Jose), Briana Scurry (Atlanta), Hope Solo (University of Washington).
