By Paul Kennedy in Seoul The USA-Mexico broadcast on ESPN set a U.S. cable television record with a 4.28 rating among males age 18-34, the most desirable age group for advertisers. The rating is the highest in the history of cable television in that category on late-night television (1-6 a.m.). It was the highest on any cable television program last weekend in the 18-34 male category. The USA-Mexico broadcast drew an overall rating of 2.29 (1.98 million households), the highest in the tournament to date. Univision's broadcast on Los Angeles affiliate had a 41.2 rating — higher than the combined ratings of Los Angeles' seven English-language stations — and 75 share among Hispanic households. The total Univision viewership of the USA-Mexico game was estimated at 4.2 million viewers, the highest ever for any Spanish-language sports telecast among men, women and adults 18-34 and 18-49. According to Univision, it drew 42 percent more viewers — Hispanics and non-Hispanics — than ESPN's competing live broadcast.
