As part of the Revs' efforts to get back on track, they traded Mamadou Diallo, Andy Williams and Ted Chronopoulos to the MetroStars for Daniel Hernandez, Diego Serna and Brian Kamler. Diallo was the MLS scoring champion in 2000 with 26 goals and four assists for 56 points. Williams was the Revs' team MVP in 2001; Chronopoulos was New England's lone survivor from its first season in 1996. A move to trade Serna appeared inevitable. He had 52 goals in four seasons with Miami, but he had not duplicated that form with the Metros. Hernandez's five-year MLS career has been marred by injuries, but he is considered one of the league's top defensive players. Kamler is a veteran of seven MLS seasons, having started at D.C. United, where he was a member of two MLS championship teams.
