Salvadoran forward Raul Diaz Arce, a six-season veteran of MLS and the league’s second all-time leading goalscorer (82), has joined the Charleston Battery of the A-League. Diaz Arce, 32, played for D.C. United, New England, San Jose, Tampa Bay and Colorado. The signing comes in the wake of Battery’s losing Eric Wynalda, possibly for the season, to a serious knee injury. The Battery had also signed former Ireland international Terry Phelan for the 2002 season.
