The Philadelphia Charge added to its roster with the signing of Icelandic international Margret Olafsdottir. The midfielder rounds out the 20-woman roster and becomes the fourth and final international player for the Charge. Olafsdottir, 24, has made 44 appearances with Iceland national team since 1993, scoring seven goals. She has also starred for the Breidblik club of Iceland’s First Division since 1991, leading it to six league titles. The team is located in her hometown of Kopavogur. Olafsdottir is an Iceland national teammate of Charge midfielder Rakel Karvelsson, who is a dual citizen of the United States and Iceland. “Margret is a talented and multi-dimensional player,” Charge coach Mark Krikorian said. “She can play a lot of different positions for us and brings experience at the international level to the team.” Olafsdottir and the Charge will conclude their exhibition schedule this Tuesday, April 17, at 7:05 p.m. ET, when they take on the New Jersey Lady Stallions of the W-1 League. The match will be played at Mercer County Park in West Windsor Township, N.J. Admission is free. Karvelsson and Charge forward Kelly Smith are former members of the Stallions.
