The New England Revolution, desperate shore up its leaky defense, acquired Miami Fusion defender Leo Cullen in a trade for Johnny Torres and midfielder Shaker Asad. The Fusion and Revs also traded back draft picks. The Fusion acquired a second-round selection in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for a first-round choice in the 2002 SuperDraft. The picks were originally swapped earlier this year during a trade that brought Brian Dunseth to the Fusion and sent Jay Heaps to New England. Miami also acquired midfielder Ian Woan from the Columbus Crew for a conditional draft pick. To make room on its roster, the Fusion waived defender Tim Sahaydak.
