North Carolina men’s team has finally broken out of the shadows of the famous Tar Heel women’s team. UNC (21-4-0) won the NCAA Division I men’s title for the first time with a 2-0 win over five-time champion Indiana, 2-0, Sunday before a crowd of 7,113 at Columbus Crew Stadium. Ryan Kneipper (12th minute) and all-America sweeper Danny Jackson (penalty kick in the 75th minute) scored for UNC. Jackson, Columbus product Chris Leitch and sophomore sensation David Stokes manned the back three that shut down the favored Hoosiers.
