The USA, in one of its more impressive showings of the three-year Bruce Arena era, defeated Costa Rica, 2-0, in the Gold Cup final Saturday in Pasadena, Calif. Josh Wolff scored in the 37th minute on a breakaway. Jeff Agoos curved a 25-yard free kick into the Costa Rican goal in the 63rd minute following a foul on Landon Donovan. The USA had not won the biennial Gold Cup since taking the inaugural tournament title in 1991.
