Norway coach Age Steen announced his probable starting lineup for Norway’s clash with a young U.S. women’s national team in the Algarve Cup. The long-time rivals, who last met in the gold-medal final at Sydney 2000, will play in the Algarve Cup’s fifth-place match on March 17 in Quarteira, Portugal. Norway’s lineup includes two WUSA players — Carolina goalkeeper Bente Nordby and Boston forward Dagny Mellgren. Carolina midfielder Hege Riise started in Norway’s previous match, a 1-0 win over Denmark, but is not expected to start against the United States. Mellgren scored a golden goal as Norway defeated an older U.S. team in Australia: Bente Nordby, Bente Kvitland, Goril Kringen, Anne Tonnessen, Henriette Viker, Unni Lehn, Solveig Guldbrandsen, Margunn Haugenes, Dagny Mellgren, Ragnhild Guldbrandsen, Linda Ormen. U.S. coach April Heinrichs had not announced her starting lineup as of early March 16.
