Waeg Liang found the net from 40 yards out to give the United States its second goal two minutes into the second half against China. Waeg was one of three subs at the start of the second half for China: Waeg Liang for Wu Chengying, Shao Jiayi for Shen Si and Zhang Yuning for Su Maozhen. Greg Vanney replaced Gregg Berhalter for the United States. Following the second goal, the Chinese woke up to attack the Americans in force. The best chance was cleared off the line by Jeff Agoos.
