After a cleanly played, fast-paced first half, there is no score between Notre Dame and North Carolina. The Irish controlled much of the possession for the first ten minutes, but North Carolina dominated the reminder of the half. The Tar Heels had an excellent chance to score late in the half when substitute Nicole Roberts threaded through two defenders inside the Notre Dame penalty area but was denied by Irish goalkeeper Jen Renola.
