American Joe-Max Moore continued his hot streak, scoring in his third straight game for German Second Division club Nuremberg.

Moore struck only 40 seconds into Nuremberg’s match at Wolfsburg Dec. 9.

The match ended 1-1, leaving Nuremberg with 28 points in 19 games. It finished the summer-fall campaign tied for seventh with Unterhaching. It faces a six-point deduction, however, for financial irregularities that would put it in a tie for 10th place with Hertha Berlin, itself facing a three-point deduction, in the 18-team league.

Nuremberg is scheduled to resume play March 9 at home against Unterhaching.

Moore finished the summer-fall season with six league goals.

Eric Wynalda’s Bochum is in first at the break, despite losing its last two games. A 1-0 loss to Waldhof Mannheim Dec. 10 reduced Bochum’s lead over Duisburg in the Second Division to one point.

Brian Bliss’ Carl Zeiss Jena tied Meppen 2-2 Dec. 9, leaving it in ninth at the break.

In First Division news, St. Pauli has chosen not to renew Paul Caligiuri’s option. The 31-year-old American defender is expected to return to the United States, where he will have to renew negotiations with MLS that collapsed last summer.

Caligiuri did not dress for St. Pauli’s final game before the break — a 5-2 win at Uerdingen.
