Ask a Star
Our first star is U.S. national team goalkeeper Kasey Keller, who is completing his fifth season with Millwall of the English First Division. A former all-American at the University of Portland, Keller has become one of the English League’s top keepers, and is a fan favorite (he was voted Millwall’s 1993 MVP by the club’s supporters). He served as backup keeper to Tony Meola at Italia ’90, but was ignored by the national team until Steve Sampson took over in 1995. Upon returning, Keller notched shutouts against Mexico (4-0 at U.S. Cup ’95), and Argentina (3-0 at the 1995 Copa America in Uruguay).
