Portugal continues to hold a 1-0 lead over the U.S. The possession has been even so far, but Portugal has done more when it controls the ball.

The Americans have won 10 corner kicks so far, but have had few scoring chances — the best coming in the 40th minute when a corner led to a goalmouth scramble and Eddie Pope shot high over the crossbar from 6 yards out.

It’s been a tough night so far for Pope, who was beaten by Paulo Alves en route to the Portuguese foward’s 33rd minute strike. The U.S. defender also pulled down Daniel Kenedy on a 12th minute breakaway, and was fortunate to receive only a yellow card (his second of the tournament, so he will be suspended for the quarterfinal should the U.S. advance).
