Joe Clarke has announced his resignation as Saint Louis University men’s coach after 14 years on the job.
Clarke, a former star at Saint Louis, had a 205-74-30 record with the Billikens, who qualified for 12 NCAA tournaments.
SLU, which won or shared 11 national titles under the late Bob Guelker and Harry Keough between 1959 and 1973, had its worst season in its history in 1995 when it went 5-10-3.
A national search to find a replacement has begun.
Clarke is the second long-time Division I coach to quit in the week since the end of the 1996 regular season. Bob Martin resigned as head coach at Saint Mary’s (Calif.), where he also coached for 14 years.
