U.S. Soccer has announced that the U.S. national team will face Paraguay in an international friendly match on June 4 at the Anheuser-Busch Conference and Sports Centre (formerly St. Louis Soccer Park) in St. Louis, Mo.
Paraguay is presently atop the standings in the South American qualifying group, and looks set to advance to France ’98.
“We will treat the match in St. Louis like a World Cup qualifier,” said U.S. coach Steve Sampson. “Paraguay is in top form right now, and the game comes on the heels of our important showdown with El Salvador [June 29 in San Salvador].”
Tickets ($20) can be purchased starting Monday, May 12 by calling the Sports Centre at (314) 349-3777. The stadium is expected to seat 7,000.
