Don’t believe AC Milan’s board when they declare that the Rossoneri’s challenge for this year’s Scudetto isn’t over. Now 20 points behind leaders Inter Milan and Palermo, it would be nothing short of a miracle if Milan was able to overcome that kind of deficit to claim the top spot in Serie A. Even without the eight-point deduction handed down to the Italian giant for last year’s Calciopoli scandal, Milan would still find itself in a massive hole as the season rapidly approaches its halfway point. Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home to Scudetto pretender AS Roma looked more like the final stake in the Rossoneri’s beleaguered season, and yet Milan owner and former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi tried to put on a brave face following the match. “You can’t win ’em all,” Berlusconi told reporters. “After all, even I lost an election recently! I’ve told the players to keep believing in themselves, just as we believe in them. We’ll be back.” Yes, well maybe next season. Meanwhile, don’t expect Coach Carlo Ancelotti to survive the January transfer window.
