U.S. international Jovan Kirovski’s bid to return to England has been thwarted, as the young striker was denied a work permit. Kirovski, who had a previous bid for a work permit turned down while playing with Manchester United’s reserve team, had hoped to join Sunderland of the English First Division. The recently relegated club had agreed to a transfer fee of 800,000 pounds with Kirovski’s German club, Borussia Dortmund. However, the move fell through when Kirovski was denied a work permit because he had not appeared in a high enough percentage of full international matches with the U.S. national team. Kirovski will thus stay with the reigning European Cup Champion Borussia Dortmund, with which he saw limited action last season.
