In response to overwhelming fan requests, D.C. United officials have announced that Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the New England Revolution will kick off at 8:00 (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 5 at RFK Stadium. The match was originally scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., but thousands of D.C. United fans responded that the afternoon starting time would prevent them from attending the match. In cooperation with league officials and ESPN, the time change was achieved. The match will still be shown live on ESPN2. “We’re very pleased that the league has worked with us to change the start time,” said D.C. United GM Kevin Payne. “We’re also happy that ESPN2 worked with us to rearrange the schedule. We did this strictly to accommodate our fans… We now expect to have a great crowd at RFK Stadium on Sunday night.” The updated MLS Playoff Schedule can be found in the News Briefs section of SA Online.
