The 1998 W-League will consist of two divisions, which were created in January due to the growth and success of the four-year old league. The W-1 division features 15 teams, with the majority featuring a national team or “marquee” player such as Tampa Bay’s Michelle Akers and Raleigh’s Carla Overbeck and Tracy Ducar. The W-2 division will consist of 16 teams.
