The Sept. 9 Colorado at MetroStars MLS match has been rescheduled for Aug. 18, with game time remaining at 7:30 p.m. (EST). The scheduling change came after the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, the New York Giants and the New York Jets agreed to play three pre-season games in August on natural grass at Giants Stadium. The announcement enables the MetroStars to now play two home games in August on grass. “We are very pleased to hear that the Giants and the Jets will be playing a portion of their NFL exhibition schedule on natural grass,” said Metros GM Charlie Stillitano. “This presents a wonderful opportunity for us to offer our fans and players two games on grass that we expected to be played on AstroTurf.” The change means that the Metros will play just two regular-season games on turf this year. Last year, the team’s final five home games were played on the artificial surface.
