D.C. United midfielder Tony Sanneh will be out 8-12 weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery in Worcester, Mass. on June 22. Dr. Bill Myers performed two procedures. The first was a pelvic floor repair, which reattached the abdominal muscles to the pelvis. The second was an adductor release, cutting tendons attaching the groin to the pubis. In addition, he removed a staple that had pulled free since a Nov. 24 operation which Sanneh underwent to repair a similar injury. Sanneh has five goals and five assists in 15 matches for United this season. Dr. Myers said Sanneh will be able to begin swimming rehabilitation in about four weeks, and light jogging in about six. If the rehab progresses well, he said Sanneh could return to full action before D.C.’s last regular-season match on Sept. 27.
