U.S. Soccer is currently finalizing dates and times for the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, which will all be played at neutral stadiums. Following the third round matches, when MLS clubs begin competing, the eight surviving teams will be grouped geographically, and then paired in a blind draw for the quarterfinals. The four quarterfinal matches will be played as two doubleheaders, with one in the East and one in the West. The semifinal match-ups will also be played as a doubleheader, with the four finalists being paired by a blind draw. The dates and times of all these matches will be announced by U.S. Soccer in the coming weeks. The 1998 U.S. Open Cup final has tentatively been scheduled for late August.
