D.C. United’s rookie midfielder Ben Olsen has been named to the MLS USA All-Star team for the Aug. 2 All-Star Game in Orlando, Fla. He replaces injured Columbus Crew midfielder Brian Maisonneuve, who recently underwent surgery to repair ligament damage in a severely sprained right ankle. Olsen becomes the first rookie and first Project-40 player to be selected to the All-Star game. The commissioner’s office, which traditionally picks replacement players, made the selection.

Campos, Ramos fined

Chicago keeper Jorge Campos and MetroStars midfielder Tab Ramos have been fined for separate incidents July 18 and 19. Campos was reprimanded for public comments about the officials after the Fire’s 4-1 loss to D.C. United. The league docked him $750. Ramos, who was ejected for dissent towards another player, was given the customary $250 red-card fine and also fined an additional $750 for “the nature of the offense.”
