In the final trade made before the MLS deadline, Dallas sent Mexican forward Damian Alvarez to the New England Revolution for Colombian midfielder Oscar Pareja. Pareja, who was allocated to the Revolution in May, has notched five assists in 13 games. He will provide the Burn with a much-needed playmaker and allow Jason Kreis to move to a withdrawn forward spot. Dallas has struggled offensively after losing Swiss midfielder Alain Sutter. Alvarez joined Dallas last season and finished in the top ten in the league in scoring (11 goals and seven assists in just 19 games). “Damian is one of the most promising young forwards in Major League Soccer, and immediately adds speed and quickness to complement Raul Diaz Arce and Joe-Max Moore,” said New England coach Thomas Rongen. “He is a proven goalscorer and could provide the lift we need to reach the MLS playoffs.” Alvarez has four goals and two assists this season, but has been out with a knee injury since early July. He is expected to make his New England debut Aug. 22 against Los Angeles.
