Bob Ganlser, who head coached the U.S. 1990 World Cup team and the 2000 MLS champion Kansas City, will be the assistant coach to Mo Johnston with 2007 MLS expansion club Toronto FC.

Johnston was a player on Gansler’s Kansas City Wizards.

“I am very excited to be working with Bob again”, said Johnston, a former Scottish international. “He is a big part of why I went into coaching, and to have him here in Toronto is tremendous”.

Gansler also guided Kansas City to the US Open Cup in 2004 and the Milwaukee Rampage to United Soccer League title in 1997.

Also hired as a Toronto FC assistant coach is Mike Matkovich, most recently the Director of Coaching of youth club Chicago Magic.

Carmine Isacco, a native of Toronto who played college ball at Maryland, has been named goalkeeper coach.
