U.S. women's national team head coach Greg Ryan will bring 28 players to the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., for a five-day training camp Jan. 11-15 to prepare for the team's trip to Guangzhou, China, for the 2007 Four Nations Tournament Jan. 26-30 against Germany, England and host China. All four teams will return to China in September for the Women's World Cup.

With several U.S. veterans — including Abby Wambach and Kristine Lilly, the top two scorers in 2006 — not participating in the January training camp or the Four Nations Tournament, the trip to China will give several young forwards to show their talents.

Ryan called up 11 uncapped players and 12 players who participated in the 2006 college season. Among those uncapped players earning call-ups were 2006 Hermann Trophy winner Kerri Hanks of Notre Dame and 17-year-old Casey Nogueira, who came up big as a freshman for North Carolina in the Women's College Cup, scoring in both the semifinal and championship games. Two uncapped players who didn't play college ball in 2006 are former Santa Clara star Megan Kakadelas, a member of the USA's 2002 U-19 World Championship team, and former Penn State star Tiffany Weimer, who worked in the school's sports communications department this past fall.
