The USA was eliminated from the FIFA Beach Soccer World Championship Tuesday when it lost to host Brazil, 10-6, in their Group A finale. The Americans finished tied with Poland and Japan for second place behind Brazil, but Japan went through on the tiebreaker.
The Americans played Brazil tighter than Poland or Japan had in their games. Raphael Xexeo led the USA with a hat trick.
Brazil and Japan moved into Thursday's quarterfinals along with France, Canada, Portugal, Uruguay, Argentina and Bahrain.
