Wanchope, who scored twice in the Ticos' 4-2 World Cup opening loss to host Germany, joined Rosario Central. Paraguay's World Cup keeper Aldo Bobadilla has joined Boca Juniors, which won both titles last season.
Former Argentine international Juan Sebastian Veron returns after stints with Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan to his first club, Estudiantes, which he left in 1995.
Boca Juniors' coach Alfio Basile will leave in September to coach the national team and the defending champ has yet to appoint a successor as it aims for its 22nd title, second only to River Plate's 32.
