YOUTH: Larry Monaco is new U.S. Youth Soccer president

Larry Monaco has replaced David Messersmith, who reached his term limit, as president of US Youth Soccer, the largest youth sports organization in the country that registers more than 3.2 million players

Monaco won the election against current US Youth Soccer vice president, Eveyln Gill and former Oregon Youth Soccer Association president, Steve Baker. Monaco, a member of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association, is a former executive vice president of U.S. Soccer and ran unsuccessfully against Bob Contiguglia for U.S. Soccer president in 1998.
