The U.S. under-20 menÆs national team will travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina, from April 18-27 to play three matches during their first foreign camp of 2006.
The trip to Argentina will be just the second camp for the U-20s this year under Coach Thomas Rongen as they prepare for the World Youth Championship.
Rongen will bring a 20-player roster to Argentina, which includes 12 professionals. All but three — Nicolas Torres (Argentine Second Division club Club Deportivo Espanol) and Preston Zimmerman (German club Hamburg) — ply their trade in Major League Soccer. Three players are at Chivas USA — forward Estuardo Sanchez, midfielder Rodrigo Lopez and defender/midfielder Carlos Borja. Nathan Sturgis, who started in the Los Angeles Galaxy opener against New England, is the only holdover in the squad from the 2005 World Youth Championship team.
Goalie Genaro Fernandez is the younger brother of Bolivia national team goalie Gato Fernandez, who played briefly in MLS. Genero Fernandez resides in Santa Cruz, Bolivia,
