Haiti became the first the team to qualify for the 2007 Gold Cup from the Caribbean when it won its second straight game at the 2007 Digicel Caribbean Cup with a 2-0 victory over Barbados on Monday night in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Host Trinidad & Tobago, which had been held to a 1-1 tie by Barbados in its opening game, beat Martinique, 5-1, to move into second place with four points. Former MLS player Gary Glasgow scored his second and third goals of the tournament in the win. Liberty University senior Darryl Roberts also scored in the win.

Guadeloupe and St. Vincent & Grenadines lead Group B after upset wins over Cuba and Guyana, respectively, in their opening games on Sunday. Guadeloupe won, 2-1, on former French national team star Jocelyn Angloma's goal in the 85th minute. St. Vincent beat Guyana, 2-0. The Guyanese had set a CONCACAF record when it won 11 international matches in 2006.

The top two teams in each group qualify for the 2007 Gold Cup this summer in the United States. The Caribbean berths were expanded to four teams when CONCACAF eliminated its practice of inviting guest teams. Caribbean power Jamaica, now coached by former USA coach Bora Milutinovic, was upset in the first round of qualifying last fall.
