Club America beat Jaguares, 1-0, on Nelson Cuevas' goal in the final game of group in the InterLiga Wednesday night at the Home Depot Center, but both teams had already clinched berths in Saturday's finals by virtue of Morelia's 3-1 victory over UAG in the first game.
Club America, the winner of Group B, meets Tigres, the runner-up in Group A, in one of Saturday's finals. Necaxa, winner of all three Group A games, meets Jaguares of Chiapas in the other final.
The two winners earn berths in the Libertadores Cup. The winner with the most points in group play will qualify as Mexico's No. 2 entrant, moving into a group with Sao Paulo (Brazil), Audax Italiano (Chile) and Alianza Lima (Peru). The other winner qualifies as Mexico 3 and will face Peru's Sporting Cristal in a play-in to earn a spot in the 32-team group stage.
The doubleheaders on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Home Depot Center drew crowds of 10,212 and 19,405, respectively.
