Chicago’s Kosecki suspended for three games
Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee has suspended Chicago Fire forward Roman Kosecki for Saturday’s season opener at San Jose and the Fire’s subsequent two games. Kosecki also will be fined for his abusive behavior toward a referee during the Fire’s 1-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Mutiny in an exhibition on Saturday, March 13 in Ft. Myers, Fla. Kosecki, who finished second among Fire scoring leaders with nine goals and nine assists during the team’s championship 1998 season, was abusive toward the referee after being sent off in the 68th minute for a second cautionable offense.
