University of Virginia sophomore midfielder Jason Moore has announced that he is leaving the school to turn professional. “I feel this is in my best interests,” Moore said. “This is a chance I don’t want to pass up. It’s always been a dream of mine to play professionally.” Moore, a midfielder known for his ability to control the ball and run the offense, was second on the Cavaliers with seven assists, including three game-winners, this season. “Again, we’re losing one of the best young talents in the country,” said Virginia coach George Gelnovatch, who lost Ben Olsen and Brian West to Project-40 after the 1997 season. “Jason has a great opportunity to become a really great player on the professional level…we’ll miss him, but we’ll continue to bring in great soccer players.”
