DaMarcus Beasley could be on his way to Scottish giant Glasgow Rangers, according to a report from the Daily Record, which says PSV Eindhoven had agreed to a transfer fee worth approximately $1.4 million for the 25-year-old American winger. That price point has given Rangers coach Walter Smith the go-ahead to open contract negotiations with the player, who is currently on national team duty with the U.S. in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Gers’ bid comes on the heels of a particularly lively performance from Beasley, who scored two goals at Gillette stadium last night in a comprehensive 4-0 rout of El Salvador. The Record reports that Beasley is on a short holiday following the Americans’ qualification for the quarterfinals, which could allow him to fly to Scotland for face-to-face talks with Smith. Rangers expect to have a deal in place by early next week.

The move for Beasley is one of many in the pipeline for the legendary Smith, whose Rangers side has failed to keep pace with bitter city rival Celtic over the last several seasons. Smith is also understood to be pursuing Osasuna’s sought-after center back Carlos Cuellar, although the Pamplona club recently laughed off a feeble $2 million bid, demanding nearly three times as much.
