Friday’s transfer news is longer on rumors than actual deals. The tussle over Arjen Robben’s signature continues; Chelsea may not have pleased the Dutch winger with its contract extension offer but it appears that the Stamford Bridge outfit won’t let him leave to Madrid for less than $40 million. Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon says the club will be patient in its negotiations with Chelsea, “but we are not going to go mad to get him.”
Robben’s departure may well hinge on the willingness of FC Sevilla to sell Brazilian right back Dani Alves to Chelsea. Alves is rumored to carry the same price tag as Robben, and the South London club wants another right-sided player. Alves is certainly keen on the move: “You have to make the most of your opportunities — a soccer player’s career is very short,” he said, before asking that Sevilla take a look at any opportunities that fall his way. The Spanish club, meanwhile, is already said to be lining up a replacement in Real Madrid’s $10 million Cicinho.
However, the biggest rumor of them all says Kaka is actually mulling a move from AC Milan to Real Madrid. The Spanish champ has tabled an offer for more than $110 million, and it would appear that Milan would be reasonably positioned for the future after scooping up Alexandre Pato from Internacional for a cool $30 million. “These situations are resolved when the player goes and asks that they let him go,” Calderon said of Kaka.
