All-American Julius James, who led No. 2 Connecticut to Big East victories over St. John’s (3-0) and Syracuse (1-0), is the Soccer America Men’s Player of the Week for games played Sept. 24-30.
James anchored the Husky defense that limited the opposition to four shots, just one shot in each half of each game.
The senior from Maloney Gardens, Trinidad, also scored the game’s only goal against Syracuse on a header. The goal was his first of the season and the seventh of his career at UConn.
