[TUESDAY ACTION] In just his second game back after missing the first seven games of the year with a fractured metatarsal, David Estrada, the 2006 Soccer America Freshman of the Year, scored to give UCLA a 1-0 victory over visiting San Diego.
Sophomore midfielder Andrew Sinderhoff set up Estrada’s goal just one minute after coming into the game. Sinderhoff unleashed a shot that San Diego goalkeeper Kelin Briones got a hand on. Estrada, who was UCLA’s top scorer last season with 12 goals, pounced on the rebound and put it away from five yards out for his first goal of the year.
The win improved UCLA ‘s record to 4-4-1. In their first seven games without Estrada and Sal Zizzo, who signed with German club Hannover on the eve of the season, the Bruins, Soccer America’s preseason No. 1 pick, managed to score only 10 goals.
