Jami Tullius‘ golden goal lifted UTEP to a 3-2 victory over Colorado College Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA women’s tournament, completing a comeback from a 2-0 deficit with only 33 minutes to play to the delight of 1,126 fans in El Paso.

Tameka Sumter scored her 11th goal of the season to bring the Miners within one goal before Cortney Casey‘s strike with 12 minutes left evened the match.

CC had gone ahead 2-0 after only 18 minutes on a pair of goals by Amara Wilson.

“That was a phenomenal comeback,” said UTEP coach Kevin Cross. “We never quit, and showed a lot of character in getting a win against a really tough team.”

The Miners (13-6-2) will take on second-seeded Memphis in the semifinals on Friday.
