[ENGLISH FA CUP] In one of the wildest weekends in English FA Cup history, three lower divisions clubs reached the semifinals for the first time in 100 years.
Portsmouth is the only English Premier League club left in the final four that also includes Championship League (second division) clubs Barnsley, Cardiff City and West Bromwich.
The irony is that the English FA scheduled the semifinals to both take place at Wembley to raise funds for the stadium, but it may have to lower ticket prices to attract fans from these low-profile clubs to the games scheduled to be played April 5-6.
Portsmouth advanced because Ghanaian Sulley Muntari's second-half penalty gave Pompey a 1-0 win over Manchester United, its first victory at Old Trafford in 51 years.
Barnsley followed up on its 2-1 victory over Liverpool with a 1-0 win over Chelsea on Kayode Odejayi's goal.
First-half goals from Peter Whittingham and Roger Johnson gave Cardif a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough, while
Ishmael Miller's hat trick led West Brom past League One (third division) Bristol Rovers, 5-1.
