Arsenal has struggled to eke out important results since posting an historic 2-0 victory at the San Siro last month, losing 2-1 away to Chelsea and then drawing 1-1 at home against Liverpool twice in the span of four days. Nevertheless, Coach Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners can still win both the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League if his side can overcome a stubborn Liverpool defense in tonight’s second-leg Champions League quarterfinal clash.

“I still believe we can finish as champions in the league but we need to win at United on Sunday,” Wenger told reporters ahead of tonight’s Liverpool clash — the third meeting between the clubs in less than a week. “I also believe we can win the Champions League. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think that.” The Frenchman said his men must show the same strength of character at Anfield that they showed against European champion AC Milan last month.

“I believe we can win anywhere in the world. We are not going to play the game to go to penalties, we will play it to win,” he said. “There will be more urgency in this game and less observation. My wish is not to be patient. I want to score early goals.”
