A player at second-tier English team Crystal Palace revealed to the world that he was planning to leave the club for the Premier League’s Fulham by announcing the news on his Facebook page.
Ashley-Paul Robinson, 19, posted a message on the social networking site that could be read by 2.7 million members to say that he was having a trial at Fulham. He has been with Palace for five years after joining the team as an academy player, and was reportedly told by Palace manager Neil Warnock in April that he would be offered a new contract.
The message, posted on Saturday, read: “Ashley-Paul is goin fulham on Monday. If I pull dis off im on dis ting!!!” (translations available through google). After news of the hoped-for move spread, he posted a new message on Monday stating: “Ashley-Paul has been very naughty lol!” A source at Crystal Palace said: “It’s pretty embarrassing for the club that this guy is telling the world he’s looking to leave the club. Perhaps someone should tell him to be a bit more private about what he’s putting on the internet.”
