[WPSL] Ajax America won the 2008 Women’s Premier Soccer League championship with a 3-1 victory over the Arizona Rush in Sunday’s final in Natomas, Calif.

Sisters Kiki and Dani Bosio were the stars for the Southern California-based Ajax.

Kiki set up Renee Scachetti and Myisha Delaney for the first two goals and scored the insurance goal herself. Dani Bosio clamped down on a young Arizona attack that went ahead on a 30-yard strike from University of Arizona’s Kelly Nelson but couldn’t put another goal past Ajax goalkeeper Alli Lipsher.

The Bosio sisters shared MVP honors for Ajax America, whose last WPSL title came in 2001. It reached the final four in 2006 and 2007.

“Its been a long time coming,” said Ajax coach Brian Boswell. “We’re real happy with this one. Over the last couple of [final fours], we’ve been the bridesmaid and it feels good to be the winner. We’re just a great team … it doesn’t matter who’s out there. We just play very well as a team. We play well for each other – more than any superstars.”
