[AMERICANS IN DENMARK] Danny Califf, whose own goal last week led to Danish club Midtjylland’s elimination from the UEFA Cup, was red-carded in the 39th minute of a 1-1 tie with Vejle on Monday in Danish league play.
Califf, who is joining the U.S. squad for World Cup qualifiers against Cuba on Saturday and Trinidad & Tobago on Wednesday, deflected a 90th minute shot past his own keeper last Thursday while his team was ahead 1-0 on aggregate against Man City in the two-leg series. Man City won on penalty kicks.
Benny Feilhaber, 23, who joined AGF Aarhus on Aug. 15, made his debut for his third European club as a 59th minute sub in a 3-0 loss to FC Nordsjaelland, in which Aarhus’ Jeremiah White played the full 90.
Feilhaber joined Aarhus from England’s Derby, which he joined from Germany’s Hamburg SV.
